FRIDAY, AUGUST 5th – FRIDAY, AUGUST 12th

Black Girls Film Camp is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that provides a FREE, national, and virtual 12-week experience (held once a year) where high school Black girls across the country pitch a story idea, and a final ten are selected to have their short film project produced by the program. Over 200 Black girls across the country applied for the 2022 camp and 10 finalists were selected to direct and develop their own short films. This August, BFF is featuring those 10 films virtually as well as hosting a Q&A with these young women, their mentors and the Founder & Executive Director of Black Girls Film Camp, Jimmeka Anderson, Ph.D.

For a small donation of $5 to support the BFFoundation year-round programs, you can stream all 10 of the films plus the special Q&A Friday, August 5th – Friday, August 12th on our virtual platform, watch.bentonvillefilm.org.

LAND OF GOLD is a story of hope and finding family in the most unexpected places. A universal story uniquely told from 2 first generation perspectives. When truck driver Kiran hears pounding on a shipping container and finds a young Mexican-American girl inside, his already tumultuous life takes a drastic turn as he seeks to reunite her with her family.

The films World Premiere was at the Tribeca Film Festival in January of 2022 and won the Honorable Mention Jury Award at the 2022 June Bentonville Film Festival.

Following the film, we will be joined by Nardeep Khurmi, the director, writer, and star of LAND OF GOLD, as well as Pallavi Sastry, the producer and cast member of the film for a Q&A discussion. This conversation will be moderated by Belonging, Equity & Inclusion Strategist, Monica Kumar, and there will be a portion where the audience will have a chance to ask questions to the filmmakers as well.
