Blinded By The Light: Special Screening w/ Q&A
From writer/director/producer Gurinder Chadha (“Bend It Like Beckham”) comes the inspirational drama “Blinded by the Light,” set to the music and lyrics of Bruce Springsteen’s timeless songs.
“Blinded by the Light” is a joyful story of courage, love, hope, family and the unique ability of music to lift the human spirit. The film tells the story of Javed (Viveik Kalra), a British teen of Pakistani descent growing up in the town of Luton, England, in 1987. Amidst the racial and economic turmoil of the times, he writes poetry as a means to escape the intolerance of his hometown and the inflexibility of his traditional father. But when a classmate introduces him to the music of “The Boss,” Javed sees parallels to his working-class life in Springsteen’s powerful lyrics. As Javed discovers a cathartic outlet for his own pent-up dreams, he also begins to find the courage to express himself in his own unique voice.

Sin Miedo A La Verdad
“Sin Miedo A La Verdad” is a spanish film with English subtitles, and it’s about the story of Manu, an introverted boy with special technical skills, that can be used not only to repair cell phones, but to infiltrate computer systems and passwords. Thanks to his mentor doña cata, Manu has overcome a cruel past. But that history left a mark on his face and a terrible shadow in his soul. through his job working with computers, Manu loves to help others. In that same vein, he created a vlog, “Sin Miedo A La verdad” (“No fear of truth”), through which he anonymously protects those who have been victims of injustice. In each episode we will learn a different story with conflicts related to issues like online harassment, cyberbullyng, sexting, and catfishing, which have become a growing stain on the country. as Manu resolves cases, we will discover his tragic past, and we will see how he is persecuted by Horacio, a corrupt police officer, who seeks revenge on Manu for having killed his brother.
